In 2002, Cheryl Eckard was a Quality Control Manager for Glaxo Smith Kline, one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Within the duties of her job, Cheryl began to notice significant manufacturing problems in GSK's plant in Puerto Rico, including problems with the formulations for their anti-depressant Paxil and with potential contamination in other medications. Cheryl reported this numerous times to her superiors and was fired in 2003. Cheryl then began the very long, emotionally and financially draining process of litigation. On October 27th, 2010, Cheryl Eckard won her whistle-blower claim against the company and Glaxo Smith Kline agree to pay $750 million dollars in fines, penalties and settlements.
Well-thee honors Cheryl Eckard's determination to have her voice heard and to do the right thing!
